Granite stairs in Lysekil

Granite stairs at "Gula Villan" in Kyrkvik is one of very few examples of processed granite from Stångehuvud remaining in Lysekil. The nearly 20 steps and the surrounding stout pillars that support the gate and railings are carved in the typically coarse reddish granite from western parts of Stångehuvud.
"Gula villan" was built in 1896 by Henrika Widmark (1848-1920). She was the daughter of the governor Henrik Widmark in Luleå. Henrika was a fairytale writer and poet. She lived in Stockholm during the winter and in the summer in Lysekil. She wrote numerous poems, including "From the West Coast" (at the 50th anniversary of Lysekils hafsbadanstalt ), "In Lysekil" (song) and "Gullmarn sings Carl Curman drapa" (at the consecration of the church in Lysekil).

In 1982 "Gula Villan" was bought by the artist Nanna-Kristina Jonson (1948-2014).

Now the house is owned by Strandflickorna Hotell & Konferens.
