The warrior monument in Schwerin

The warrior monument in Schwerin in northern Germany is beautifully situated near the castle in the center of the city. It was raised in memory of the war between France and Germany 1870-71. The war was won by Germany and at this time the northern and southern parts of the country were united. On the table are the many names of the fallen soldiers.

The monument is made of typical coarse-grained reddish Stångehuvud granite quarried by the German firm Kessel & Röhl and delivered to Schwerin in 1874.
